SHIRLEY — It finally feels like winter, but it is time to start planning for this year’s Shirley All Town Hoe Down.
The first organizational meeting will be Thursday Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Shirley Historical Society Museum on Center Road.
This year’s Hoe Down will be Saturday, June 2. The exact times and schedule of entertainment need to be discussed. All town organizations are invited to send a representative to the meeting. People who are not part of an organization, but would just like to help out, are also invited to attend.
Volunteers are needed to help with advertising and soliciting craftspeople and signing up food tables, etc. Some folks volunteer to stuff envelopes or hang signs or move tables. Others just volunteer to help clean up, and that is helpful as well.
The Hoe Down Committee is made up of interested people from various town groups. If you attend the meeting, you become an official member of the committee. The Hoe Down files and supplies are stored at the Historical Society Museum.
