SHIRLEY — The School Committee is seeking nominations of citizens or local businesses after which to name the Shirley Middle School gymnasium and auditorium.

The committee announced its intention to name the two school facilities, as is customary in many schools, at the suggestion of Chairman Paul Wilson.

One of Wilson’s ideas was to name one or both of the two facilities after Bemis Associates Inc., for its outstanding support of the town and the schools.

“They have constantly been there for us,” said Wilson. “I think they should be compensated in some way for their support of our district.”

Nominations may be sent to the committee via e-mail at ssdschoolcommittee@shirley-ma.gov or by mail at Shirley School District, 7 Keady Way, Shirley, MA 01464. — Keyna Thomas.
