AYER — Having existed for over a year now, the Greenway Committee is looking to expand its membership.
Those who value nature trails, biking on the Rail Trail, kayaking on the town’s many ponds or the Nashua river, or enjoy conservation are welcome to attend the Jan. 27 committee meeting, at 10:30 a.m., in the Ayer Public Library meeting room.
Thus far the committee has built a new hiking trail, formed a Friends of the Nashua Rail Trail Committee with Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable residents, had a booth at the Fourth of July celebration and GrotonFest, and are working on a new trail location.
It’s also working to create a Rail Trail that runs from downtown Ayer through Devens to Harvard as well as an Internet-based interactive map of Ayer and the surrounding communities to show where trails and points of interest are.
Families are especially welcomed. For information call Patrick Hughes at (978) 772-3963.
