GROTON — Nomination papers will be available Feb. 6 at the town clerk’s office for the May 22 Annual Town Election.

There will be a special voter registration session at the town clerk’s office April 10 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to register for the election.

To be placed on the ballot, it’s necessary to obtain the signatures of 46 registered voters. It’s also recommended that additional signatures are obtained. This law applies to incumbents and challengers.

Nomination papers must be returned to the Board of Registrars at the town clerk’s office for certification by April 3 at 5 p.m. to have your name placed on the ballot.

The following seats will be on the ballot this spring: one for the Board of Assessors for a three-year term, one for the Board of Health for a three-year term, two for the Board of Selectmen for three-year terms, one for the Commissioner of Trust Funds for a three-year term, three for the Constables for three-year terms, two for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School Committee for three-year terms, one for the Groton Electric Light Commission for a three-year term, one for the Housing Authority for a five-year term, two for the Park Commission for three-year terms, two for the Planning Board for three-year terms, one for the Sewer Commission for a three-year term, one for the Tree Warden for a one-year term, two for the Trustees of the Groton Public Library for three-year terms and one for the Water Commission for a three-year term.

In addition to nomination papers, the clerk has information from the Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) regarding campaign finance regulations and practices. It’s important to remember that, before incurring any expenses or receiving any funds, a candidate must file a statement of organization.

Nomination papers can be obtained from the town clerk’s office during its business hours, which are Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays to Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the first and third Saturday of each month from September to June from 9 a.m. to noon.
