SHIRLEY — Residents are strongly encouraged to license their dogs by the end of January.
All 2007 dog licenses purchased from the town clerk’s office by Jan. 31 cost $10. Licenses purchased on or after Feb. 1 cost $15. Dog owners who don’t license their dogs may be subject to additional fines as per the town bylaws.
A valid rabies certificate needs to be included with the license application unless the rabies certificate on file with the clerk’s office from a 2006 dog license hasn’t expired. Any rabies certificate presented will be returned with the license.
Mail-in forms are available at www.shirley-ma.gov, Hazen Memorial Library and the entryway to the Town Offices at 7 Keady Way. Residents who wish to purchase licenses by mail need to include a self-addressed stamp envelope so the license can be mailed to them. Licenses may also be purchased in person during the town clerk’s office’s business hours, which are Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Mondays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
