AYER — Theodore A. Januskiewicz, 74, died at his residence on Dec. 8, 2006, after a brief illness. He was born in Shirley on Feb. 4, 1932, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Gaydzis) Januskiewicz. He grew up in Shirley and attended St. Anthony’s School and Shirley public schools. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1951 then served six years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Ted worked many jobs including the Hartnett Tannery in Ayer and K&K Plumbing in Pepperell for a brief period. He served as a patrolman for the Ayer Police Department in 1964 and owned and operated Ted’s Flying A Gas Station from 1964 until 1972. He sold the gas station and became a custodian at the Ayer High School until his retirement in 1996. He and his wife owned and operated the Januskiewicz Bus Company in Ayer.

Mr. Januskiewicz was a member of the Ayer Volunteer Fire Department, the Ayer Gun and Sportsmen’s Club and served as a dog officer for the town for 10 years. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Church in Ayer.

His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ann (Phillips) Januskiewicz of Ayer; three sons, Theodore and his wife Karen Januskiewicz Jr. of Ayer, James D. and his wife Marsha Januskiewicz of Ayer, and Mark S. and his wife Gail Januskiewicz of Ayer; two daughters, Natalie M. Januskiewicz of Charlton and Pamela A. and her husband Gary Luca of Ayer; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Jeremy, Jessica, Cassandra, Matthew, Connor, Ryan, Cody, Gary, Gina and Erin; and two great-grandchildren, Alena and Sarah.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary’s Church in Ayer on Dec. 11. Burial took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ayer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ayer Fire Ambulance Association, 1 West St., Ayer, MA 01432, or Hospice of Nashoba Nursing Services, 2 Shaker Road Suite D225, Shirley, MA 01464. Badger Funeral Homes handled arrangements for the family.
