Governor candidate plans visit to Pepperell barbecue

PEPPERELL — Feeling like you get no respect out here, beyond Interstate 495?

On Sunday, Aug. 27, from 4-6 p.m. at the Pepperell home of Alice Peck and Mauricio Puente, you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with Deval Patrick, Democratic candidate for governor, in a relaxed atmosphere where you can get spontaneous and thoughtful responses to your questions.

“Deval has waged a remarkable grassroots campaign that speaks to the people of our region,” said Alice Peck, a 60-year-old registered nurse. “He has taken positions on issues that the average beyond-495er cares most about: quality education, attracting and growing local businesses, support of our local family farms and accessible and affordable health care for working families and individuals.”

Susan Medaglia, the Townsend co-host, added, “In Patrick’s previous visits to the area he has listened to our concerns regarding upgrading our transportation infrastructure, and our desire to improve services to our communities in a way that is sensible and fiscally responsible.”

A dedicated group of people from Pepperell, Townsend, Ayer, Groton and the surrounding towns is hosting the fund-raiser to allow Patrick the chance to meet local people and hear what matters most to them.

Tickets for the “Patrick in Pepperell” fund-raising barbecue will be offered at $500 (Friend), $250 (Supporter), and $100 (Guest). Tickets may be purchased by visiting the Web site The link also provides details of the event. Contributions may also be mailed to Alice Peck, 6 Bancroft St. Pepperell, MA 01463, or call the party hostess at (978) 433-6335.
