The Boston chapter of the SVT Owners’ Association added a second round to last weeks’ can drive for Loaves & Fishes. Collecting 70 pounds of goods and an additional $100 in cash, activities director Troy Velazquez said, “We appreciate the town and use of the facility for our events, and we are happy to help in at least some way.”
Board member Randy Palmer added, “We’re always glad to help a worthy cause. We just wish we could have given more.”
At this weeks’ event, 41 drivers individually took on a course of obstacles including slaloms, turnarounds, sweeping turns and zig-zag offsets, all set by cones. Many of the group were glad to retire to local restaurants to relive a day of fabulous weather.
Drive organizer Jeff Seeger said, “Again we had folks from Maine, Connecticut, and New York as well as southeastern Mass, and New Hampshire all happy to support a local charity. When I saw the urgent call for donations I knew it would take time but that these groups would be glad to help.”
