AYER — The Fire Department and Council on Aging hosted a ham and bean supper for those over the age of 60. The event took place on Aug. 15 in the grand ballroom at Town Hall.

Any Ayer resident over the age of 60 was invited to attend free of charge. Approximately 80 attended. Those who came were grateful for the wonderful dinner prepared by the firefighters. The firefighters, along with their families, should be commended on the spectacular job they did.

Kevin Farley, the Irish Music Guy, mesmerized the audience, amusing them with folk tales, playing 10 different instruments and songs that reach the heart. Audience participation consisted of toe-tapping, hand-clapping and singing. This was the first collaboration held at the grand ball room, but hopefully not the last. Local businesses Hannaford, McDonald’s, Tiny’s Restaurant and Dunkin’ Donuts all made donations to make this event possible.

The Council on Aging looks forward to hosting many more of these events in the “Grand Ball Room.”
