Dear Senators Kerry and Kennedy:
I support a near-term deadline for a withdrawal from Iraq, and I ask that you support any action toward that end.
The Bush administration is paralyzed by the disaster in Iraq, and can’t make any significant move. Democrats must step in and lead.
You need a backbone to recognize the situation; you need a backbone to take the actions to get out of a disastrous situation that is damaging our nation and the world. Please show the world that Democrats have backbone. I particularly commend the words of Congressman John Murtha — listen to him and urge others to do so.
Our forces have done what they can do to help Iraq; now it is time for others to help them complete the process to democracy and nationhood. There is NO shame in this, or in recognizing this.
