AYER — There will be a bird walk along the Nashua River Rail Trail to kick off the holiday weekend.

Birding enthusiast Nikki Belmonte will lead the walk on Saturday, July 1, at 7:30 a.m., before the town parade. Participants will seek out summer migrants and local favorites by sight and sound. Novice bird-watchers are encouraged to attend.

We will meet at the downtown Rail Trail parking lot and head north through forest, wetland and meadow habitats. The walk will be approximately two miles round-trip. Make sure to bring binoculars and a field guide if you have one. Long pants are also recommended.

For information e-mail Nikki Belmonte at nikki@willardbrook.org or visit www.willardbrook.org. The rain date for this event will be July 8.
