WESTFORD –James Poirier Jr., of Townsend, has been named as the student of the month for April at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.

Poirier, the son of James and Linda Poirier, is a senior in the banking/marketing/retail program. He is also the president of Nashoba Tech’s chapter of the National Honor Society. For the last three years he has been a member of the Banking Bowl team that has participated in the annual Massachusetts School Banking Association’s spring competition. This spring the team placed second.

Poirier is a high honors student who plays golf, basketball and baseball for Nashoba Tech. He will attend the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in the fall to major in business and sports management. His goal is to work for a professional sports team, particularly the Boston Red Sox.

Poirier was nominated by banking/marketing/retail instructor Michael Geragosian, who wrote, “J.J. has been a consistent performer and asset to NVTHS over the past four years. He has done well academically as well as technically.”
