Harvard Hoops
Harvard Hoops! is proud to present weeklong basketball clinics for boys and girls again this summer. The clinics cater to players of all abilities. There will be two junior sessions and one senior session. Bromfield boys basketball coach Scott Hoffman directs the clinic. Students entering grades 1-4 in September can attend the junior sessions that run from August 7 to August 11, or August 14 to August 18. Sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and all junior sessions are held at the Harvard Elementary School on Massachusetts Avenue in Harvard. The fee for each junior session is $130 ($120 is registration is received by May 26.
The senior session (for players entering grades 5-8 in September) will be held July 10 to July 14. The hours of the senior session are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All senior sessions are held at the Bromfield School in Harvard. The fee for the senior session is $185 ($175 if registration is received by May 26).
The cost of all sessions includes quality instruction and supervision, camp t-shirt, self-help guide and an ice cream treat each day. Soccer officials training sessions
Central Mass Soccer Officials is offering training sessions for new soccer officials in June. The course will be held at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden (140 Main St.) on June 6, 8, 13 and 15 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The room number will be posted at the front entrance of the school. All candidates must be 18 years of age or older by the start of the fall soccer season, graduated from high school, and have an interest in student athletes. Other experiences in playing soccer, coaching, or refeering soccer for other levels is useful but not necessary. All games, boys and girls, are played in September and October. Some games are played in the evenings during weekdays and there are a few Saturday games. Game fees range anywhere from $49 to $70 per game. There is a fee of $75 for the course, and if you complete the course the dues for the 2006 season are $62. Girls Bay State basketball tryouts
Tryouts for the Central Mass. Girls Grades 9/10 Bay State Games basketball team will be held on Thursdays June 1, 8 and 15 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the St. Bernard’s High School Activity Complex. All current freshmen and sophomores residing in Central Massachusetts towns are eligible. Players must attend two of the three tryout sessions. Eight practices will run from June 19 through July 12, followed by the Bay State Games tournament July 13-16.
