SHIRLEY — If you missed the anniversary meeting of the Grange, this is your chance to discover what it is all about.

On Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m., come to the Historical Society Museum on Center Road for the opening reception of its new display on the 100-year history of the Grange.

Grange Secretary Ellen Longley Hitchings will tell everyone how the Grange got its start and how it evolved. She will explain the significance of the Grange sashes and pins that are on display. She will also show pictures of Grange fairs, ceremonies and special events. In addition, she will talk about what kind of charitable projects the Shirley Grange supports.

Visitors will be able to look through scrapbooks and see the original charter. The display will remain at the museum until the end of June and can be seen on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. However, this Friday is the only time Hitchings will be there to share the information and answer questions, so stop by.
