TOWNSEND — As part of its ongoing effort to improve the water quality and supply to residents, the Water Department will be conducting its semiannual water system flushing program during the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May.

To further minimize the impact on customers and supply, the department will restrict activities to late evening or early morning hours.

The flushing process may cause discolored water and/or a reduction in pressure. These are temporary conditions and are not harmful, but normally take up to 48 hours to clear up. If one or both of these conditions persist beyond this time, call the Water Department at (978) 597-2212.

The department appreciates customers’ patience and understanding as they work to maintain and improve the quality of the drinking water provided to the residents and businesses in town.

For information call the number listed above.
