”Dinner with Dr. Franklin”:

International Dinner: 5 to 7 p.m., Townsend VFW, hosted by the Friends of the Townsend Seniors. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 10 and under.

Dinner with Dr. Franklin: 6:30 p.m. reception and 7 p.m. dinner at Bull Run Restaurant, Shirley. Tickets are $130 ($100 of which is tax-deductible) to benefit Shirley Educational Foundation.

”Fine Knacks for Ladies”: Free concert, 7 p.m. in the Gammons Recital Hall at the Groton School, Farmer’s Row (Route 110) in Groton. This wide-ranging program covers Renaissance lute songs, German lieder, traditional folk songs, and works by de Falla and Villa Lobos. For information call (617) 629-2551.

Mustard Seed Coffeehouse: with Buddy Fanjoy, 7:30 p.m. at the Pepperell Christian Fellowship building, 17 Main Street, Pepperell. Admission is free but a donation of paper goods for My Father’s House is requested.

Fishing Derby: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ayer Gun & Sportsmen’s Club, Snake Hill Road. Entry fee is $12 for adults, $6 for seniors and kids under 12 for the annual Louie Collins Fishing Derby. Breakfast and lunch will be offered. One pole per admission.

Canoe Race: The 23rd annual Squannacook River Two-Man Canoe and Kayak Race begins at 10 a.m. from the Townsend VFW Pavillion.

Chamber Concert: Violist Roger Tapping and pianist Judith Gordon perform music of Schubert, Takemitsu, Britten and Brahms at 8 p.m. at The Kalliroscope Gallery, 264 Main Street, Groton. Sunday breakfast: The Ayer Gun & Sportsmen’s Club is offering breakfast from now until Mother’s Day (May 14) on Sundays from 7 to 10 a.m. On the menu is pancakes, French toast, eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, homefries, hash, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and juice. On Mother’s Day, there will be a breakfast buffet.

Decorative glass painting class: An art class will be held on Tuesdays at the Groton Senior Center, 163 West Main St. The advanced class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon; the beginner class from 11 a.m. to noon.
