In September of 2004, the Carol G. Wheeler Memorial Park in West Groton was dedicated. At this time we were told that a plaque was in the making but would not be ready in time for the dedication. That was fine but now it is April 2006 and no plaque has yet been erected. It took 50 years to find a proper place to be dedicated to this serviceman who gave so much to his country. Is it going to take that long again to have this park recognized? What is the Park Department doing? Also no mention was made in the Park Committee’s report to the town in 2004 that this event had even taken place.
