SHIRLEY — The Shirley Educational Foundation (SEF) is holding its first fund-raising events of the year in April. “Dinner with Dr. Franklin” will be held on Friday, April 21, and “Franklin Alive!” will be held on April 22. Two-time Emmy winner Bill Meikle has generously donated his time for these events because his granddaughters love our schools and he and his wife want to see us succeed.
The Shirley Educational Foundation is one of many similar nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts devoted to raising private funds to enhance the educational excellence in public school districts. Our goal is to provide grants to the Shirley School District in order to add substance and excitement to the curriculum.
In today’s economy, our teachers are lucky to have a classroom and textbooks. Through SEF, teachers are able to fulfill their dreams of enhancing their curriculums through additional programs or equipment, thus adding meaning to the educational experience of our children.
SEF needs your support. We realize that “Dinner with Dr. Franklin” requests a large donation. Remember, we are a nonprofit organization, and of the $130 ticket price, $100 is a tax-deductible donation and will directly benefit the Shirley public schools. Advance ticket reservations for “Franklin Alive!” are $15 and fully tax-deductible.
