PEPPERELL — Christine L. Blood, private first class, is serving in Mozul, Iraq.

Blood graduated from Military Intelligence School at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and was stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was assigned to the 572nd Military Intelligence Company with the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team.

While in Alaska, she received specialized training for deployment to Iraq. Her company was deployed to Mozul in August 2005. Her unit was attached to the 2-1 Infantry Battalion.

Blood’s job is as a counter intelligence agent, which includes interrogation and human intelligence operations.

In January Blood received the Soldier-of-the-Month Award.

She is currently stationed at the Mozul Detention Facility in the Interrogation Support Element.

The 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team is scheduled to return to Alaska this summer. It is not known where Blood’s next assignment will be.

Blood was home on leave in early December. She was able to celebrate her 21st birthday on Dec. 8 and to enjoy an early Christmas with her family before returning to Iraq.
