CONCORD — Pepperell resident Valerie Eaton makes her debut with the Concord Players playing Hannah Ferguson in the award winning musical, “The Spitfire Grill.” Eaton has been active in theater since high school, getting her start in the now defunct Groton Community Theater.

The play unfolds as the owner of the grill, Hannah Ferguson (Eaton), has had enough of waking at dawn, frying hash-browns and flipping eggs. She’s made the decision to sell the grill, but to who? There are no buyers in rural Gilead, Wisconsin, where The Spitfire Grill is the sole restaurant and the local meeting place. To stir interest in the sale, Hannah and her employees, including recent parolee Percy Talbott, hit on the idea to raffle the place off. For $100, anyone can submit a short essay about why they want to change their lives forever and buy The Spitfire Grill.

Eaton holds a bachelor’s degree in music theory from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a masters in vocal performance from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge. The cast of seven presents a score of solos, ballads and comic numbers.

The cast includes Percy Talbott (Shonna McEachern), grill owner Hannah Ferguson (Eaton), Shelby Thorpe (Sarah Telford), Caleb Thorpe (Eric Dwinnells), Joe Sutter (Sean McLaughlin), Effy Krayneck (Liz Bishop) and the visitor (Tom Lawrence). Denis Fitzpatrick is directing the cast with Mario Cruz as music director. Sally Bull, Marilyn Cugini and Marlene Mandel are producing the show.

The show opens Feb. 10 at 51 Walden St., in the center of Concord, with performances on Feb. 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. There will be a matinee performance on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. For tickets, call (978) 369-2990 or order online at Tickets for all performances are $18.
