Reminder for dog licenses, census, voter registration

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

SHIRLEY — The Town Clerk’s office would like to remind you of a few things you may want to keep in mind.

* Dog Licenses for 2006 need to be purchased by Jan. 31.

All dogs older than six months must be licensed. Licenses cost $10. After the Jan. 31 deadline, an $5 late fee will be added to the cost.

Forms are available at the Town Clerk’s office, the library and on www.shirley-ma.gov.

A valid rabies certificate must be presented along with your form. If you mail in your form, please include a rabies certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Your rabies certificate will be mailed back to you with your dog license.

* Please return your 2006 town census form. Census forms were mailed to each residence in town, but blank forms are available at the Town Clerk’s office, the Post Office and the library if you need a copy.

Census forms may be returned by mail or dropped off at the Town Clerk’s office or the library.

Returning the census form does not register you to vote.

* If you are new to town or have recently turned 18, and would like to register to vote, you must complete a voter registration card.

Registration cards are available at the Town Clerk’s office and the library, or can be requested by calling (800) 462-VOTE/8683.

You can drop completed cards off at the Town Clerk’s office or mail them in.

This is an important year with voting opportunities coming up at the May 9 town election, June 12 annual town meeting, Sept. 19 state primary and Nov. 7 state election.
