As the recognition chairperson for the town of Pepperell Girl Scouts, I would like you to know that it is hugely important that leaders are recognized for their spirit, time and efforts in Girl Scouting.
Their dedication encompasses many more hours than time spent at actual troop meetings. They volunteer to organize, plan activities and attend many training, workshops and meeting to put forth a positive Girl Scout experience for the girls.
Your leader may be eligible as Outstanding Leader, Outstanding Volunteer or Rookie of the Year! Please see the paperwork for award criteria as well as nomination papers.
All paperwork is also available online at the council Web site at www.ssgsc.org. Click on “Adult Girl Scouts,” then “recognitions” or “forms.” Many of your questions can be answered there, but please contact me if I can help.
Completed forms should be submitted to me. The rule of thumb is that if we get three nominations/letters for outstanding leader or volunteer, we recognize that leader. Letters can come from anyone, but there have been some tough moments when one or a group of girls have written a letter. We have had lovely descriptions from older girls of their leader as well as one sentence with drawings and signatures from Daisy Scouts. All are equally appreciated.
It is a wonderful feeling to be recognized by parents and scouts. Thanks for supporting your leaders in anyway that you can. Thank you for recognizing these people as positive role models in our community.
