TOWNSEND — Michael P. “Bram,” Shaughnessy, 54, of 3 Howard St., died Sunday, Jan. 29, after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 21, 1951, in Clinton, he was the son of John J. and Barbara M. (Gannon) Shaughnessy. He lived in Townsend and Fitchburg for most of his life.

Shaughnessy attended North Middlesex Regional High School and earned his GED from Mount Wachusett Community College. He worked for local wire and cable, plastic and transport companies, before moving to Rockland, Maine in 2003, to be closer to his daughter and grandson.

Shaughnessy was predeceased by his sister, Eileen M. Shaughnessy, who died in 1960; his mother, who died in 1990 and his father, who died in 2000.

Shaughnessy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his beloved daughter, Heidi, and his cherished grandson, Frank. He enjoyed photography, the ocean, surf casting, historical movies, Howard Park, the Squanacook River, Indian cultures and HAM radio.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 2, at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Clinton followed by burial in the Saint John’s Cemetery in Lancaster. T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, Townsend, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Shaughnessy to the HealthAlliance Cancer Center, 275 Nichols Rd., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Philip Lowry for his dedication and compassion.
