On behalf of LUK, Inc. and Shirley Middle School, I am very pleased to share an exciting opportunity with you!

For the past three years, LUK Mentoring has provided over 100 children in the north Central Mass. community with a caring and responsible adult mentor.

These young people have been given the opportunity to achieve their potentials and discover their strengths with a mentor. A mentor is part of a team of caring adults. Through a working partnership with Shirley Middle School, LUK Mentoring will now be able to serve middle school students in Shirley.

Mentors can be a caring adult over the age of 18 interested in spending a little of their time with a young person in need. Mentors and youth will spend a minimum of one hour per week, for one year, participating in group activities, goal setting, academic assistance and having fun. Activities can range from horseback riding, visiting a museum or park, sporting activities, volunteering, movies, craft activities, homework help or simply talking.

LUK Mentoring program is actively seeking individuals to become mentors to local youth. Shirley residents are needed to become mentors to students in their own hometown. I would like to invite you to a free information session to learn more about becoming a mentor. A meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Shirley Middle School at 6 p.m. If you or someone you know would like to become a mentor, please RSVP to Erin Wilson or Hilary Amedy at (978) 345-0685.
