The Shirley PTA, a non-profit volunteer organization is seeking a treasurer, a candidate who possesses strong accounting and bookkeeping capabilities.
Treasurer’s duties include, but not limited to: Keeping accurate records and detailed accounts in the treasurer’s permanent books of all monies received and paid out by check and keeping receipts and records of itemized disbursements.
The Treasurer shall pay routine expenses and make routine bank deposits. The treasurer also handles all fund-raising receipts and expenditures and submits reports at regular monthly meetings of the association, including amounts received and credited to the general funds, including balance on hand, open and remaining budget expended to date, income and expenses analysis expended to date.
The treasurer prepares an annual analysis report of income and expenses. This individual also prepares an annual draft budget to the executive committee for consideration, and then to the PTA membership for approval.
The PTA treasurer, if required, is responsible to file an annual information return of the association’s income and expenses to the IRS and attorney general’s office to obtain solicitation status. The treasurer should be prepared to answer all questions promptly and to have records available at the meeting.
