SHIRLEY — Candlelight Vespers will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m., at Shirley’s historic Meetinghouse.
The evening will be full of joyous music celebrating Christmas along with reflective poems and stories. One of the stories is The 1914 Christmas Truce During World War I about one man’s quest for peace on earth.
Readers for the evening will be Amy McDougal, Jim Quinty, John Rounds, Kevin Johnston, Doris Huxley and Charlene Oelfke. The Meetinghouse Chorale will be directed by Katherine FitzGibbon.
A BU Doctoral student in chorale conducting, Kathy is also in charge of the chorale activities at Clark University and the Berkshire Choral Festival.
Lois Toeppner on piano, Laura Finkelstein on flute, and Valerie Ripley on clarinet will provide the accompaniment. The chorale will sing four pieces along with solos by Vicki Landry, Leah Sapko, Kristin Davis and Holly Haase.
The Meetinghouse Men’s Chorus and the Women’s Chorus will also sing individual pieces.
Admission is a donation to benefit the historic Meetinghouse.
