AYER — Have you wanted to do a landscape, portrait or special project in pastel?
Bring a photograph or just come and enjoy an art workshop, lecture and demonstration with award-winning painter Gregory John Maichack.
This free event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ayer Public Library. Space is limited. Please pre-register by calling (978) 772-8250. Refreshments will be served.
Participants will receive an engaging hands-on experience of basic pastel painting and advanced techniques. They will understand how to easily start and complete a pastel painting. All will receive help tailored to their projects, whether landscape, still-life or portraiture.
Maichack will bring hundreds of pastels and individually demonstrate the essentials of painting with pastels. He will display his original pastel artwork to illustrate the talk. A demo of expressive pastel painting will detail achieving luminous color and volume, structuring an engaging composition and tips on creating impact. Ongoing questions will be encouraged.
Participants are encouraged to experiment with hundreds of Maichack’s professional grade hard, soft and super soft pastels, professional pastel paper, etc. However, if you have your own pastels, please bring them.
This event is supported, in part, by funding from the Ayer Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
