GROTON — Alan E. Foulds will present a program titled “Boston’s Ballparks and Arenas” on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Groton Senior Center on Route 225 in Groton.

Sponsored by the Groton Historical Society, Foulds’ talk will highlight examples of the local fields, parks and stadiums remembered by sports lovers of all ages.

Foulds is a magazine editor in Lexington and an author on New England and sports history. He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of historical topics. His most recent book, “Boston’s Ballparks and Arenas,” takes a look at the sites, the teams, the players, record setting games and the feats that have made sports history in the region. Some of the parks have been abandoned such as the Huntington Avenue Grounds, Braves Field and Worcester County Agricultural Fairgrounds and some are beloved today such as Fenway Park. Baseball parks and basketball arenas, football and soccer stadiums and hockey rinks are all included.

Sponsored by the Groton Historical Society and made possible by a grant from the Groton Trust Funds’ Lecture Fund, the program is free and open to the public.

For information, call the Groton Historical Society at (978) 448-0092.
