LOWELL -- Shrek, everyone's favorite ogre, comes to life for a little holiday fun in Shrek The Musical playing Lowell Memorial Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 27, with shows at 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Based on the popular Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, the story takes place in a faraway kingdom where things get ugly when an unseemly ogre -- not a handsome prince -- shows up to rescue a feisty princess.

Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a villain with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and the audience will be pumped up for fun.

Tickets $30.50-$56.50 at 978-454-2299 or www.lowellauditorium.com.
