TOWNSEND -- The Friends of the Townsend Seniors and the Friends of the Townsend Library will co-host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band's Thursday evening, August 3, concert on the Townsend Common.
The Friends of the Townsend Seniors will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and fresh fruit salad to hungry concertgoers. They will also have cold soda and bottled water available for purchase. The Friends of the Townsend Seniors will have an events and membership information table set up on the common as well.
The Friends of the Townsend Library will be offering root beer floats, orange floats, ice cream sundaes, a wide variety of home baked goods, and some high quality used books for sale. The Friends of the Townsend Library will also have a recruitment table.
Children attending the concert may play in a bounce house and have their face painted. They may also smash noodles with a hammer while wearing googles, pick a lollipop in hopes of winning a prize, and try their luck at the Pot Luck game.
The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing Duble's "Bravura March" and Brown's arrangement of the "Highlights from Disney's Enchanted." Ricketts' arrangement of the "Selections from Mary Poppins," Bocook's arrangement of "Highlights from Pirates of the Caribbean," and "Sweet Caroline" arranged by Waters will be performed. The "William Tell Overture" arranged by Leidzen and King's "Peacemaker" will be included in the first portion of the concert.
Following intermission Bidgood's "Sons of the Brave March" and "The Teddy Bears Picnic" by Bratton will be played. "Toccata For Band" by Erickson and Buckley's "Honor the Founders" will be performed before the band concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m. by playing the "Star Spangled Banner."
