TOWNSEND -- Hawthorne Brook sixth-grade social studies teacher Dave Anderson's famous world landmarks project at Hawthorne Brook Middle School brought out the architect in his students.

"The goal of the famous world landmark project," he said, "was for each student to pick a different world landmark. They had to research several aspects of the landmark and prepare a presentation. For the presentation, the students each built a 3-D model of the landmark and taught one another about each location."

The classroom space was filled with a wide variety of structures, each representing valuable lessons gained by not only the student builder but fellow students as well.
