Townsend Public Library Knitters Group: Townsend Public Library Knitters Group! All Levels Welcome!! We Meet every second Tuesday of the month! Townsend Library Genealogy Club: Are you interested in genealogy? Join our group of researchers who will meet every 2nd Thursday of the month! We will provide laptops (or you can bring your own) and access to The Ancestry.com database and the Heritage quest databases. Share stories, ideas and collaborate with others. Introduction to Your Local Government: Event will be held in the great hall in Town Hall local government is the level of government that most closely touches people's lives and over which people have the greatest influence. But do you know how your local government works? How your tax dollars get spent? Are you intimidated by the "regulars" at Town Meeting? This session will explain how Town government works. The presenters will discuss how the various branches of local government operate, including Town Meeting, the Board of Selectmen, other elected and appointed officials, and staff. They will also give a summary of Proposition 2 1/2, the state's property tax limiting law. Let the presenters dispel the myths so you can fully participate. After all, it's your democracy. Romance Readers Group: The Bodice Rippers: Do you love to read a juicy romance? Is it a guilty pleasure you almost feel ashamed to admit? Do certain heroes make you wish they existed in real life? If so, then this is the readers group for you. Join other lovers of romance to discuss and recommend your favorite books and authors and share which heroes you wish you were real, and which heroines you wish you could be.
