NORTHAMPTON -- The Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Ultimate disc club won the Massachusetts High School Ultimate League Mixed Division championship at Sunday's state tournament.

Since its founding in 2013, the Groton-Dunstable team has been competing well as a co-ed team in the Open Division III, and was well-positioned when the Mixed Division was created this year, where certain ratios (4:3 or 3:4) of boys and girls on the field are required.

The Crusaders adapted quickly to the new gender-ratio format, and won all four of their games in the day-long tournament, including close, well-fought semifinals and finals matchups against Arlington and Hartsbrook (of Hadley), respectively.
