Boys' basketball:
Littleton roars past Ayer-Shirley, 77-41
LITTLETON-- Ayer-Shirley failed to find a way to stop Littleton's(5-1, 1-0 Mid-Wach D) hot-shooting point guard, Chris Murray who ended the game with 19-points. Murray's teammate Ryan Sullivan chipped in 17. Ayer-Shirley was led on the stat sheet by junior captain Ryan Richard with 13-points. The road loss drops the Panthers to 3-3, and 0-1 in Mid-Wach D play. The Panthers return home for a meeting with West Boylston on Friday.
Bromfield drops fourth straight against Tahanto
BOYLSTON-- Bromfield's woes continued Wednesday night when they traveled to Boylston to face the Stags. Ryan Kennedy paced the Trojans with 17-points in a losing effort. Alex Wilhelmy provided the 3-point dagger late in the fourth quarter to lift Tahanto past the Trojans 56-51.
Francis Phillips overtime 3-point basket all the buzz at North Middlesex(4-2, 0-0 Mid-Wach A)
TOWNSEND--With just six seconds left in overtime, Francis Phillips took a feed in the left corner, and deposited a three-point missile to lift the Pats past Nashoba 61-58. Phillips and Nashoba's Josh Pellitier, led all scorers with their 16-points. Next up for North Middlesex is division foe Fitchburg on the road at 7 p.m.
Girls' basketball:
Lady Trojans double-up Tahanto, 48-24
HARVARD-- Montanna Burke paced the Lady Trojans (4-1, 1-0 Mid-Wach D) with 13-points in Wednesday night's home win over Tahanto.
Littleton too much to handle for Ayer-Shirley
LITTLETON-Lady Tigers guard, Meghann Ackermann put on a clinic, dropping 23-points on Ayer-Shirley's (5-2, 0-1 Mid-Wach D) defense. The Lady Panthers had a narrow 38-37 lead going into the fourth quarter, but it slowly withered away. Littleton outscored Ayer-Shirley 40-20 in the final quarter, to runaway with the 57-48 win. Ayer-Shirley was led by Tina Babcock with 11 points, and center Gabby Hebert with 10. The Lady Panthers regroup, and head to West Boylston for a Friday night tilt at 7 p.m.
North Middlesex's offense sputters against Nashoba
BOLTON-The Lady Patriots(5-3) were fresh off a Pete Trainor Memorial Tournamnent championship, but they were unable to get anything going offensively in their 70-40 loss to the Chieftains. Mackensey Farina led the Lady Patriots with 17-points. Nashoba sprinted out to a 20-point lead in the first quarter, and never looked back. North Middlesex returns to their home floor for a 7 p.m. meeting with division rival Fitchburg Friday.
