SHIRLEY -- Four original paintings by a local artist that she loaned to the in-town branch of the former North Middlesex Savings Bank on Front Street seem to have gone missing and the police are looking into the matter.

NMSB is now Main Street Bank after a merger with Marlboro Savings Bank earlier this year.

Reported missing last Friday afternoon, the paintings had previously been displayed on the walls at the branch bank and were reportedly on-loan for that purpose. As of this week, their whereabouts are unknown and under investigation, according to the department's public information officer.
