Spaghetti dinner: Hose Company #1 of the Shirley Fire Department is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner for Shirley American Legion Post 183 from 5-7:30 p.m., at the War Memorial Building on Church Street in Shirley. Dinner fare includes spaghetti, bread, Caesar salad, and Chef Al Deshler's famous homemade meat balls and sauce. The price is $6 per person. As always, everyone is welcome.

Hoe Down planning meeting: 7 p.m., Shirley Historical Society, 182 Center Road. This year's Hoe Down will be held on Shirley Common on Saturday, June 1, from noon to 6 p.m. This event is a fundraiser for many local charitable organizations full of entertainment, food and games. There is room for many sales tables of crafts and other new and lightly used items. Anyone who has comments on last year's Hoe Down or suggestions for this year's Hoe Down is welcome to attend. Spring meat raffle

A spring meat raffle will be held at the Ayer Gun & Sportsman's Club in Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. Come join the fun and vie for hams, turkeys, pork loins, prime ribs and more. In addition to our normal raffles, there will be a special raffle for a flat-screen TV and door prizes.

St. Patrick's Day supper

The Ayer Gun & Sportsman's Club will host at St. Patrick's Day "all you can eat" corned beef and cabbage dinner on Saturday, March 16, at 6 p.m.

Do yoga with Shirley Rec

Come join Shirley Recreation for our next Adult and Senior Yoga session. Classes will be held March 13 through May 8 at the Hazen Library (no classes April 17).

Senior Yoga is held at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and is a system of gentle stretches, centering and breathing techniques. During the class you will release stiffness in joints, gain better flexibility and balance, feel energized and leave with the calming sense of well-being. The cost for the eight week session is $25 for Shirley Residents and $30 for non-residents.

Adult Yoga is held 6:45-8 p.m. and the cost for the eight week session is $60 for Shirley residents and $65 for non-residents. We are offering a "Drop in Rate" at $10 per class if you don't want to sign up for the entire eight week session.

Message from the DPW

A parking ban remains in effect from Nov. 15 through April 15. Property owners are responsible for their sidewalk, walkway or driveway to be clear of snow and ice even if caused by a snow plow.
