PEPPERELL -- The town will assemble a search committee to find a successor for Town Administrator Mark Andrews.

Seven committee members will review all applications for the position by checking work records and credentials and will recommend three to five candidates to the board.

Andrews, who started as Town Administrator in 2014, announced his intent to retire on April 30. He has not yet been given a retirement date.

The screening process is expected to take no more than three months after the committee first meets.

From there, the Board of Selectmen will interview finalists recommended by the screening committee and choose a new town administrator.

If a decision is not made within a month, the search committee will reopen the process and ask for more applicants.

The committee will be comprised of three department heads, a member of the Board of Selectmen, and three at-large members.

Residents that want to serve on the committee should fill out a citizens activity form due Tuesday. It is available on the town's website or in person at Town Hall.
