WESTFORD -- Maddison Caten of Pepperell has been selected as a January Student of the Month at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
Maddison, daughter of Jonathan and Tara Caten, is a senior in the Programming & Web Development program. She is the highest-ranked student in the senior class and will be valedictorian at the graduation ceremony in June. She has consistently earned high honors throughout her high-school career, and was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore and the National Technical Honor Society as a junior.
Maddison was named an Advanced Placement Scholar by virtue of her performance on Advanced Placement exams as a junior. She is also Nashoba Tech's nominee for the Outstanding Vocational Technical Student Award, given by the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators. She was a member of Nashoba Tech's Robotics team that competed in the regional tournament and plans to study Computer Science in college next year.
She was nominated by English Instructor Bruce Sullivan, who wrote: "Maddie sits at the top of her class academically, and is among the finest, most conscientious and intelligent students I have ever had the pleasure to teach. She juggles a mix of rigorous AP and honors classes, and is among my best writers, having already passed her AP exam for Language."
