LOWELL -- A 30-year-old Pepperell man is accused of pulling a Mike Tyson by beating a man and biting or tearing a portion of the victim's ear off.
In Lowell District Court on Friday, Timothy Denault, of 14 Pleasant St., Pepperell, was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to mayhem and aggravated assault and battery.
His next court date is Nov. 15.
Prosecutor Daniel Brunelli alleges that shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, Chelmsford police responded to Wellman Avenue for a report of a fight.
The alleged victim told police he had been walking along the street when a gold car began to follow him. When the car stopped, two men got out. One man began to speak to the alleged victim, while the other began punching and beating the victim, Brunelli said.
The alleged victim said he must have passed out, but the next thing he knew he was home. He went to the hospital, where he was treated for lacerations to both eyes and a torn right ear with a piece missing from the top, Brunelli said.
When Chelmsford police canvassed the area, they spotted Denault coming out of some nearby woods with his T-shirt covered in blood and blood on his cheek, Brunelli said.
Brunelli asked for $20,000 cash bail, noting Denault, who has a three-page criminal record, is currently on probation after serving five years for armed robbery.
