Why do you come to the library? To absorb the awesomeness! To show my kids the magic the library holds. To get lost in a book.
What do you geek? Writing.
Lawrence Library geeks writing, too! In fact, we geek writing so much that we're hosting Susan, who is the author of "My Zombie Ex-Boyfriends" at the library on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. She will be discussing how she got published and acquired an agent, and will offer advice to writers who are seeking publication as well as signing copies of her book.
Aspiring authors may enjoy reading about the lives and processes of other writers, such as Stephen King's "On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft," or "Reflections: On the Magic of Writing" by Diana Wynne Jones.
We also have several books about getting started on a new writing project, such as "The Art of Creative Nonfiction" by Lee Gutkind, and "Write that Book Already! The Tough Love You Need to Get Published Now," which is available as an ebook download.
For those who have already completed a manuscript, we also have current copies of "The Writer's Market" and "The Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market," both of which help writers find places to submit their work for possible publication.
The library can help everyone explore the things they geek. For information, or if you are interested in being the Geek of the Week, stop by Lawrence Library.
