PEPPERELL -- The Board of Selectmen met for a one-minute meeting on Friday to vote to combine the town election with the primary election. Both elections will be held on April 30.
"As part of the legislation that sets that date, towns are allowed to override bylaws and charter dates for annual town elections to coincide with that," said Town Clerk Jeff Sauer.
By holding the elections on the same date, Sauer said he anticipated a savings to the town of between $1,200 and $1,500.
Voters will be required to check in twice at the polls, once for each election. There will be two separate check-in stations to avoid confusion. Voters will take in two ballots to the polls and check out twice at two different stations.
