Upcoming NMRHS fundraisers Feb. 6

Bailey's to host PG fundraiser

TOWNSEND -- Bailey's will host an all-day fundraiser for NMRHS Project Graduation on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Ten percent of the eat-in or take-out sales will be donated to the all-night substance-free party held for the graduates in June.

McDonald's Night

Wednesday, Feb. 6, 5 to 7 p.m. Twenty percent of eat-in or take-out sales to benefit NMRHS vocal group, which will be performing in the NYC United Nations building in March.

Next Military Covenant meeting

The next Covenant meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. at the Pepperell V.F.W. On the agenda will be a discussion to schedule the next care packages to our troops spring event that will be held at the Pepperell Senior Center with the date, time and planning to be determined at this meeting.


Lawrence Library holding Food for Fines Week Feb. 12-16

Your help is needed! Bring in a nonperishable food item from the list below and the Lawrence Library will forgive your fines.

This is good for old fines or fines incurred during this week. This offer is not good for lost material charges.

All items will be donated to the PACH. Accepted donation items may include nonperishable food: canned vegetables including cranberry sauce, stuffing mixes, instant mashed potatoes, cake mixes, pie fillings and crusts, etc. 

Paste supper for Glenn

A Pasta Supper to benefit the Glenn Roberts Fund will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Meeting Hall (connected to Townsend Library), 16 Dudley Road, off Route 13,- in Townsend. Residents of Townsend and area towns have put together the Glenn Roberts Fund Raising Project to help Glenn, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. Glenn grew up in Townsend and was very active in sports during his years at North Middlesex Regional High School, graduating in 1982. He graduated from Bridgewater State College, and received his master's degree in counseling from Fitchburg State University. He has been employed at Mount Wachusett Community College for the past 20 years and works as the Associate Dean of student support services.

Jan Snapp, co-chair of the supper, says the friendly camaraderie, the action at the auction table, and music by Tim Rollo all promise to make it a fun-filled evening for everyone. The "snow date" is Saturday, Feb. 9.

Anti-bullying workshop starts Feb. 2

Townsend Recreation has postponed the start date for their anti-bullying workshop "Children Under Siege" to Feb. 2 and added classes to March 2 and 9. The class will be held each Saturday for six weeks from 10 to 11 a.m.

The class will be instructed by Mike Pearce of Dynamic Martial Athletics at 9 Center St. in Townsend. It is open to ages 8 to 13. The six-week workshop is $90, payable to Townsend Recreation.

Democratic caucus set

PEPPERELL -- Registered Democrats in Pepperell will be holding a caucus at Charles F. Lawrence Library, located at 15 Main St., on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. to elect six delegates and two alternates to the 2013 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women.

The convention will be held on Saturday, June 1, at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. All Massachusetts Democrats are chosen at their caucuses, will gather to discuss and ratify the party platform. The caucus is open to all Democrats registered in Pepperell as of Dec. 31, 2012.

Those not elected as Delegates and/or Alternate, who meet the qualifications, may apply to be add-on delegates in the following categories: youth, minority, and disabled.

Discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, creed, national origin, religion, ethnic identity, sexual orientation or economic status in the conduct of the caucus is strictly prohibited.
