The communities of Pepperell, Townsend and Ashby would like to honor the first responders for their unending dedication to all the victims, the surviving children and their families of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. They are heroes to many and their efforts are ongoing.

Monetary donations will be at several locations from Dec. 18 to Dec. 22. Locations include: Bailey's Bar and Grille, Pepperell Family Pharmacy, Scissor Action, Ray's Package Store, Car Parts of Pepperell, Mel's Barber Shop, Tick's Boutique, Arch Fitness, Gargas Karate, Hair Cottage, Patriot Barber Shop, Pepperell House of Pizza, Hair Masters, Peticure, Lorden Hardware, C&S Pizza, Pizza Pizazz of Townsend, Klever Klippers, Harbor Village Cleaners, the Wine Nook, Rainbow Child Care, Patriot Pizza, Michelle Goodwin School of Dance and the list keeps growing.

A resident of Pepperell will be hand-delivering the donations to Newtown on Dec. 23. Our goal is to hopefully provide a little comfort to the responder units and all the families suffering from this tragedy. A simple $10 donation would help provide a meal to one firefighter or police officer. We are planning to use the funds to purchase gift certificates at the local restaurants while at the same time, support the small businesses in the area.
