PEPPERELL -- Each year, over 100,000 people join together to raise funds in support of the ALS Association's cutting-edge research and community-based patient services programs.

This September, Pepperell is hosting its fourth ALS Walk. As a local event, we hope to honor any community members or loved ones who have suffered from ALS. The walk is a family-friendly 3-mile loop that crosses Pepperell's covered bridge. It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, rain or shine.

It will begin and end at the Community Church, Three Townsend Street. Check-in begins at 2 p.m., when walkers can submit their donations. The walk itself will begin at 3 p.m. All are invited afterwards to join our rain-or-shine barbecue on the church grounds. We are grateful to Bailey's Bar and Grille, 18 Main St. in Townsend for donating all foodstuff for the barbecue and to Rich Douglas and the Pepperell Lion's Club for donating manpower and a grill.

Please consider taking part in the walk, sponsoring a walker or contributing towards the barbecue. You may download a registration form from the church website,, or pick one up in the vestry at the Community Church. We ask that any participants under the age of 12 have an adult chaperone.

Get your sponsors lined up! Please make checks out to The ALS Association-MA Chapter. Registration forms will be accepted along with all funds raised on the day of the walk.
