Groton Fireworks: Groton's Annual Fireworks Festival will be held at Town Field (behind the library). activities, food, fun, music and entertainment begin at 6 p.m.
Healing Conversations: At 2 p.m. at Pepperell Senior Center, 37 Nashua Road. A free adult bereavement support group series offered by Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice. This program will be held once a month through September. Registration is not required.
Farmers Market: The Shirley Farmers market opens, and will continue every Thursday through October 24. The market will be open from 3-7:30 p.m., on the Shirley Green, 7 Keady Way. It will feature locally grown produce, and farm-related products such as locally produced honey, and goat's milk soaps.
Protect your home: Presentation at the Pepperell Senior Center by attorney Karen B. Johnson of Madge & Johnson, PC. Learn the ways to protect your home and learn what steps you need to take. Free and open to all from all towns and all ages. Starts at 10 a.m.
Christian Union Church, 37 West Main St., Groton, hosts its annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the event of rain it will be held inside. Proceed will go toward major repairs the church is facing. Info: 978-272-0145.

Freedom Ride: The Global War on Terror Freedom Ride starts at 10 a.m. The ride begins and ends at the Pepperell VFW, 55 Leighton St. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $25 per bike, $15 per passenger. Music, rides and a barbecue follow at 1 p.m. Cost is $15, and is open to the public
Trip to Tanglewood: Join the Groton Council on Aging and Friends of Groton Elders for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood. The concert will feature the Symphony with conductor Andris Nelson and Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano performing Gershwin Piano Concerto in F, Gershwin Variations on "I Got Rhythm," for piano and orchestra and Stravinsky Petrushka. Nissitissit Walk: The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) invites the public to a free guided walk from 6-7:30 p.m. Meet to park and begin our walk behind the Sunoco gas station on Route 13 in Brookline, N.H. A Google map for directions will be posted on www.NashuaRiverWatershed.org.
Golf Tournament: The sixth annual Nashoba Valley Technical High School Alumni Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. at Townsend Ridge Golf Course, 40 Scales Lane, Townsend. Registration is $150 per golfer ($125 before April 1). All proceeds benefit the Nashoba Tech athletics program. The tournament will be a shotgun scramble. The cost includes 18 holes, golf cart, dinner, and contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one and best-dressed golfer.
