1 Benefit concert: Tunefoolery performs a free concert at First Parish Church of Groton at 7 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Christmas Fair: Trinity Chapel, 188 Center Road, Shirley, holds its Christmas Fair on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Home-baked goods, attic treasures, and Christmas decorations will be on sale. Lunch will be served. Silent auction baskets have been donated by many local businesses.

2Tree lighting: The Groton Interfaith Council will host the annual Groton Community Tree Lghting Ceremony on the front lawn of Union Congregational Church, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will feature music by the Groton Brass Ensemble and the Nashoba Valley Concert Band, readings, blessings and prayers by members of the Groton Interfaith Council, and singing of carols.

Open House: The Townsend Historical Society invites everyone to a Holiday Open House from 1-4 p.m. at Reed Homestead, 72 Main St. Events include the historic 1809 house and warm up by the fireplace where our president will be baking her famous molasses cookies for everyone to enjoy! 5 Book talk: Kenneth Gloss, proprietor of Brattle Book Shop in Boston, will give a free talk at 6:30 p.m. at Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, Harvard. He will discuss the value of old and rare books.

7 Tree Lighting: Friends of the Lawrence Library sponsors the annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. at the library, 15 Main St. Join us for music, hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa.

8 Open House: At Ashby Public Library, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by and visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, create a craft, listen to live music.

9 Holiday Open House: 2-4 p.m. at Boutwell House on Main Street, hosted by the Groton History Center This much anticipated, annual event showcases the recently renovated 1851 home of Gov. George Boutwell and our latest exhibit.
