Peaches, now at their peak, are a healthy, natural way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Grilling peaches adds great flavor by bringing out their natural sweetness. A touch of maple syrup and fresh basil or mint leaves is the finishing touch for a lovely dessert that will impress everyone!
Choose firm, ripe peaches. If peaches are too hard, place in a paper bag for 2 days (do not refrigerate).
4 fresh medium-large peaches
1 tbsp maple syrup
fresh basil or mint leaves, choose the smallest leaves
1/2 cup creme fraîche or Greek yogurt, optional
Thoroughly wash peaches in cool water, gently rubbing with your hands to avoid brushing, rinse. Gently pat dry with a kitchen towel or paper towel. Cut peaches in half leaving the skin on; remove pits.
Lightly spray grill or grill pan with canola oil; prepare a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
Place peaches cut side down on grill, turning halfway through, until peaches are slightly tender and grill marks form, about 4 to 5 minutes each side. Let cool.
To serve: Drizzle peaches with maple syrup and garnish with baby basil or mint leaves.
Try placing a spoonful of creme fraîche or Greek yogurt in the center of each half, then drizzle with maple syrup and garnish.
