There is a long and strong tradition of Girl Scouting in Groton and Dunstable, and I am pleased to say it continues to thrive here.
This year we have 20 active Girl Scout troops, from kindergarten through middle and high school. Our girls learn how to work in teams, discover and unleash talents they never knew they had and gain a solid grounding to build their future lives around.
In fact, many become lifetime Girl Scouts and continue to contribute as they go through their school and career lives.
In the past year alone these troops have been active in the community, such as helping the Groton Senior Center or Loaves & Fishes. They are also venturing out to whitewater rafting trips in western Massachusetts as well as many troop and statewide camp-outs.
We are beginning to gear up for the new Girl Scouting year, so if you know a girl who would like to start her journey into Girl Scouting this fall, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 978-448-3640. Fliers will also be distributed through the elementary and middle schools in early September.
Likewise, the Girl Scouting experience is only made available because of our wonderful volunteers. We always need adults to give a little time to help run existing and new troops we hope to form. No experience is necessary, no special skills required, just a willingness to hang out, bond with and have fun with the girls.
Could you or somebody you know help the girls of Groton and Dunstable? Do you have a daughter who could benefit and would enjoy the laughter and challenges of Girl Scouting?
If you do, please contact me. I am the local organizer and would love to buy you a coffee or just chat on the phone and see how we might be able to work together!
