As a former resident of Shirley and a former employee of the Industrial School for Boys, I found (your) article very interesting.

I worked there for about eight years in the 1960s as secretary to the clinical staff. I may be one of the last former employees around.

Dina Samfield did a great job of telling its story. Fortunately, there were no major occurrences while I worked there aside from the occasional runaways.

I do remember seeing the Shakers removing one of their former buildings, piece by piece, to rebuild it at their village in western Mass.

Shirley news keeps me in touch with the small town I left many years ago but still love.
