My name is Kathleen Spofford and I am running for the position of Town Clerk of the town of Townsend. I have lived in Townsend for almost 37 years with my husband, Steve. We raised our four children here and I have grown to love this town.
I have worked for the town of Townsend for over nine years beginning my public service career as the administrative assistant for the Board of Health. Currently, I am the Assistant Town Clerk in Townsend and have been in that position for almost six years.
The Town Clerk's Office is the heart of the Town Hall and I enjoy interacting with all of the people who come through our doors. As Assistant Town Clerk, I perform the responsibilities of the Town Clerk in her absence.
Over the 5-plus years I have worked in the Town Clerk's Office, I have helped with all elections including two presidential elections plus many state and local elections. I have a background in records management and love to work with the vital records that are so important to our town's history. Many of these records are confidential, and having worked in medical offices, I know the importance of confidentiality.
I am a Notary Public and a Commissioner to Qualify. I have taken classes and have all of the experience credits and half the education credits needed to become a Certified Municipal Clerk and will continue my education toward this goal.
I am asking the voters of the town of Townsend to vote for me as Town Clerk, as I have the experience, knowledge and integrity to continue to serve the residents and visitors of our wonderful town.
Vote: April 28, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 272 Main St., Townsend.
